Vienna had important guests from Van.
From 10 to 26 July, the opera city of Vienna welcomed an important guest from Turkey to the 11th World Orchestra Festival.
The Yüzüncü Yıl University Orchestra (YYÜ Orkestrası) from Van performed at the festival.
The Golden Hall of the Musikverein, widely regarded as one of the world’s finest concert venues and the home of the Vienna Philharmonic’s renowned New Year’s Concert, hosted the orchestra.
The orchestra’s performance at the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra aligns well with the festival’s core objectives: „Follow in the footsteps of great musical masters, experience music in Vienna, be inspired by Austrian culture and tradition, and contribute to a better future!“ The World Orchestra Festival awaits you!

They came dressed in their finest clothes.
The fact that hundreds of Turks from all walks of life came to this great hall with their children, all dressed up, for the first time will spark the new generation’s interest in classical music. Who knows? Maybe these children will become famous artists one day!
The festival takes place in Vienna every summer and is supported by the Austrian Federal Government, the City of Vienna, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Haydn Foundation, the Liszt Cultural Centre and a number of NGOs, companies and individuals. This year, the project was also supported by the Austrian-Turkish Cultural Association, based in Vienna, with an extensive advertising campaign.
The festival provides orchestras and ensembles of all kinds with the opportunity to perform, exchange ideas and network, regardless of their age, religion or nationality. At a time when we are confronted daily with news of wars and conflicts from all over the world, this is certainly a welcome change. The festival brings together young orchestras from around the globe to promote cultural exchange through music. The event includes workshops, competitions, and concerts at some of Vienna’s most prestigious venues.
It gives music ensembles of various genres, including symphony orchestras, chamber music groups, folk music ensembles, wind and brass instrument groups, wind orchestras, percussion ensembles and jazz groups, the chance to perform for an audience of arts lovers.
Since 2013, more than 40 music groups or orchestras from over 40 countries have participated. The longing for boundless peace and brotherhood that music inspires is immense!
